The TV anime adaptation of the Within the Villainess (Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito) light novels has received its first previews, which take the form of a pre-animated teaser trailer and a teaser visual. It will begin airing in 2027.
The main staff and cast were also revealed. Yoshihisa Ida is directing the series at ROLL2. Hiroyuki Yoshino (Bye Bye, Earth) is handling the series composition and scripts, while Reiko Nagasawa (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1) is the character designer.
On the cast side, Rie Takahashi is Emi, who reincarnates as the otome game villainess Remilia and seeks to avoid Remilia’s fate through strategic relationships. Miyuki Sawashiro will voice Remilia Rose Graupner, who regains control of her body after certain events and decides to take revenge for Emi’s sake.
The Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito light novel series began publication in 2021 and has two volumes as of 2024. The books are written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki, and published under the Ichijinsha Novels label. A manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume released its final chapter on May 30, 2025 (JST), the same date as the anime’s announcement.
Akuyaku Reijou no Naka no Hito was previously a web novel, which launched on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2020.
